I'm a minimalist, always have been. It's just one of my things. I LOVE everything to be as simple as possible. I'm 20 years old, and my bedroom is incredibly clean, there is almost nothing in it. Combined with OCD it can be a bit of a nightmare, admittedly, however, I think being clean and tidy leaves you with a clear mind. That being said, there are indeed people who find it easier to focus with mess EVERYWHERE?! Dare I say, I hate that, it gives me a headache.
The desk I work at (in my bedroom) is my office. If I have clutter everywhere, I can't focus. On it I have things of sentimental value, books on mental health (see post), a White Company Orange Grove candle, White Company Verveine Handcream, a succulent (Cacti) called Phillip, speaker, my British Fashion Startup Award, diary, notebooks, latest Vogue & GQ (always) and THAT'S IT! Oh, wait... sorry, I forgot to mention, 90% of the time I have a cup of tea on it in my 'As I suspected I was right about everything' mug. Below are some images of my desk.
There is definitely something to be said about being clean & tidy, I feel it clears the mind of any unnecessary worry, for example; you don't have to worry about what and where to clean next. Being this clean helps me relax on a day-to-day basis when I am working, it calms my mind to know that everything is in place and I don't have anything obstructing my thoughts, I sound mad, I know! But for me, it works.
What are you preferences in terms of being clean and tidy? Are you a minimalist and like everything to be in place and simple? Or are you someone who finds it much easier to work with mess everywhere? I find this subject fascinating.
All the best for now!
Have a lovely weekend.
