WHAT THEY DO
YoungMinds is the UK’s leading charity committed to improving the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people. Driven by their experiences they campaign, research and influence policy and practice.
EMPOWERING CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE
Children and young people with mental health problems are at the heart of everything they do. Their voices are central in all their lobbying and influencing work. Their young campaigners share their own experiences with professionals and policy makers at a national and local level to improve mental health services and outcomes for all children and young people.
"I am a YoungMinds Vs activist and I feel really proud that I am part of something big that is shouting about fighting the pressures young people like me face"
They also run HeadMeds, a website about mental health medication, giving young people accessible, down-to-earth information on everything they want to know about this subject.
SUPPORTING PARENTS AND CARERS
Helping parents and carers to understand their child’s behaviour and enabling them to secure the right professional help for their children is crucial. Their free Parents' Helpline is a lifeline to thousands of parents and carers each year who are worried about the emotional problems or behaviour of a child or young person. The telephone service is supported by a specialist callback service and email support.
"A vital service connecting thousands of worried parents to expert advisers each year."
